Tips for the Best Seats
- Check-in opens 30 hours before departure (extended from 23 hours in Nov 2023) — remaining standard seats can be selected for free at this point.
- Miles & More HON Circle and Senator members can reserve standard and extra legroom seats for free on Economy Classic/Flex.
- Economy Basic fare does not include advance seat selection — seats are assigned at check-in.
- On intercontinental routes, additional-legroom pricing is route-specific: EUR 50.00 / USD 65.00 for North/Central Africa and the Middle East; EUR 90.00 / USD 115.00 on some long-distance routes; and EUR 70.00 / USD 100.00 on other flights.
- If you are travelling with a child aged 2–11, Lufthansa will do its best to seat the child next to an adult in your group; these seats are allocated free of charge at check-in. To ensure that your family sits together, you can reserve seats in advance for a fee. For Lufthansa Allegris flights in Business Class, Lufthansa strongly recommends reserving seats early because there are limited options to sit together. On flights to and from Canada, if Lufthansa cannot seat the child near an adult in your group, you can rebook your flight or cancel your trip. On flights to and from Italy, passengers travelling with a child aged 2–12, and/or passengers with a disability or accompanying a passenger with a disability, are entitled to free advance seat reservations; the Lufthansa Group will seat them together free of charge at check-in.
- Some Extra Legroom Seats are located in emergency exit rows. Reservations for those seats are subject to special conditions: passengers must be at least 16, fluent in German or English, willing and able to assist in an emergency, able to understand and comply with crew instructions, and meet Lufthansa’s other emergency-exit-row requirements.
