Cabin Policy

Alaska Airlines allows small, domesticated pets to travel in the cabin, including dogs, cats, rabbits, and household birds. The pet must remain in its carrier, stowed under the seat, for the entire flight. The carrier must be small enough to fit under the seat, with maximum dimensions of 17" x 11" x 9.5" for soft-sided carriers. Hard-sided carriers are not allowed in the cabin. A fee of $100 is charged each way. It is recommended to book your pet's travel in advance as space is limited.

Cargo Policy

Alaska Airlines accepts most domesticated pets for travel in the climate-controlled baggage and cargo compartments. The fee is $200 each way, effective October 14, 2025. The combined weight of the pet and carrier must not exceed 150 lbs. Brachycephalic (short-nosed) breeds are not accepted in cargo, with an exception for travel to, from, or within Hawaii. Pets are not accepted for travel if temperatures are forecasted to be above 85°F or below 45°F at any point on the itinerary. A certificate of acclimation from a veterinarian can waive the cold weather restriction. Carrier size requirements vary, and the carrier must be large enough for the pet to stand up, turn around, and lie down comfortably.
