Brachycephalic (short-nosed) dogs and cats are not accepted for travel in the cargo compartment, except for travel to, from, or within the State of Hawai'i. Restricted breeds include: Boston Terrier, Boxer, Bulldog, Bull Terrier, Brussels Griffon, Chow Chow, English Toy Spaniel, Japanese Spaniel/Japanese Chin, Mastiff, Pekingese, Pit Bull, Pug, Shih Tzu, Staffordshire Terrier, Burmese, Exotic Shorthair, Himalayan, and Persian.

Temperature Restrictions

Pets are not accepted for cargo travel if temperatures are above 85°F (29.5°C) or below 45°F (7°C) at any point in the itinerary. A veterinarian's certificate of acclimation can allow for travel in colder temperatures.

International Rules

  • Additional documentation is required.
  • Pets are not accepted in the baggage compartment to/from many international locations, including Europe, London, and Japan.
  • Some exceptions apply for active-duty military personnel.

Important Notes
