Cabin Pet Policy

  • Delta allows small dogs, cats, and household birds to travel in the cabin for a one-way fee.
  • Pets must be small enough to fit comfortably in a carrier that can be stowed under the seat in front of the passenger.

  • Brachycephalic (snub-nosed) dogs and cats are not permitted to travel as cargo.
  • This includes but is not limited to: American Bulldog, American Staffordshire Terrier, American Pit Bull Terrier, Boston Terrier, Boxer, Brussels Griffin, Bulldog, Chow Chow, English Toy Spaniel, Lhasa Apso, Mastiff (all breeds except Great Dane), Pekingese, Pit Bull, Pug, Shar Pei, Shih Tzu, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Affenpinscher, Bull Terrier, Cane Corso, Dogue de Bordeaux, English Mastiff, French Bulldog, Japanese Chin, Neapolitan Mastiff, Presa Canario, Tibetan Spaniel, Valley Bulldog, and mixes thereof.
  • For cats, restricted breeds include Burmese, Exotic Shorthair, Himalayan, and Persian.

Temperature Restrictions

  • For pets traveling as cargo, Delta has temperature restrictions in place.
  • Pets will not be shipped if the temperature is forecasted to be above 80°F (27°C) or below 20°F (-7°C) at any point during travel.
  • A Certificate of Acclimation from a veterinarian is required for travel when temperatures are between 20°F (-7°C) and 45°F (7°C).
