Cabin Policy

Spirit Airlines allows small domesticated pets, including dogs, cats, small household birds, and small domestic rabbits, to travel in the cabin on all domestic flights, including those to Puerto Rico and St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. A maximum of six pet containers are permitted on each flight, so it is advisable to book your pet's travel in advance. Each guest is allowed to bring one pet container, which can hold up to two pets of the same species. Pets must be at least eight weeks old and fully weaned. They must remain in their carrier for the entire duration of the flight. The pet must be harmless, inoffensive, odorless, and not require any attention during the flight. Guests traveling with pets must check-in at the ticket counter and cannot use curbside or self-service check-in. A health certificate is not required for pets traveling in the cabin, except for those traveling to the U.S. Virgin Islands. A rabies vaccination certificate is required for pets traveling to Puerto Rico.

Spirit Airlines does not offer cargo or checked baggage transportation for pets at any time.

Breed Restrictions

Spirit Airlines does not have specific breed restrictions. However, they advise that brachycephalic (snub-nosed) breeds may be more vulnerable to risks during air travel and recommend consulting with a veterinarian before the flight.
