Citi Strata Premier overview
Annual fee
Citi’s stated annual fee is $95.
This is Citi’s pricing disclosure as retrieved on the review date; it is not offset against benefits.
Foreign purchases
Citi’s stated fee for foreign purchases is none.
This establishes Citi’s stated fee, not a currency-conversion rate, merchant acceptance, or another party’s pricing.
Earning ThankYou Points
Earning rates depend on both the booking channel and merchant category. A familiar business name does not establish how Citi will classify a purchase. Check the category rules rather than assuming the highest displayed rate applies to every transaction.
Citi Travel hotels, car rentals and attractions
Citi states 10 total ThankYou Points per $1 on qualifying hotel, car-rental and attraction bookings through Citi Travel at cititravel.com or the stated phone channel.
This is a stated total-points rate for those booking categories and channels; air travel is excluded. For a points-plus-card booking, only the card-paid portion earns points, and cancelled bookings do not earn points.
Air travel, other hotels and everyday categories
Citi states 3 points per $1 on air travel and other hotel purchases, restaurants, supermarkets, and gas and EV charging; all other purchases earn 1 point per $1.
Citi defines air travel and other hotels as airlines, hotels not booked with Citi Travel and travel agencies. Category definitions, merchant coding and exclusions control whether a purchase qualifies.
Merchant coding and exclusions
Citi does not control a merchant’s category code and reserves the right to determine qualifying purchases for additional points.
Restaurant, supermarket, and gas/EV categories have stated exclusions. Returns, refunds and stated cash-like or non-purchase transactions also do not earn points; the terms’ reference to foreign-currency purchases means purchasing currency, not ordinary purchases abroad.
$100 Annual Hotel Benefit
The hotel benefit reduces the cost of an eligible booking; it is not cash paid to you. Its face amount and usefulness are separate questions. A qualifying stay needs to fit travel you already plan, and the booking conditions still apply.
Check the reservation terms before relying on the hotel benefit. Prepayment, cancellation rules and the year in which you use the benefit can affect what remains available if your plans change.
$100 Annual Hotel Benefit
Once per calendar year, Citi states $100 off one hotel stay of $500 or more, excluding taxes and fees, booked through Citi Travel.
This is a stated booking reduction, not a transferable cash benefit or guaranteed net value. Citi defines the benefit year on a calendar-year Eastern Time basis.
Hotel benefit booking conditions
The complete qualifying stay must be prepaid with the card, ThankYou Points, or both, and Citi applies the $100 at booking.
The primary cardmember must make the reservation. Package rates and other booking channels do not qualify; changes and cancellations must be made through Citi Travel’s stated channels.
Hotel benefit cancellation and earnings
A Citi Travel cancellation can restore the benefit only for remaining days in the same calendar year; cancelling a nonrefundable hotel purchase forfeits the benefit used.
Citi’s cross-year example can forfeit a prior-year benefit. The terms also state that no points are earned on the hotel-purchase portion offset by the benefit.
Transferring ThankYou Points
ThankYou points and a receiving travel program are separate systems. Before transferring, compare the current partner terms with the specific award you are considering. A transfer option does not establish that the award is available.
Keep the transfer decision separate from the earning decision. Points that suit your account while they remain with Citi may be less useful in another program if the award disappears or the partner’s conditions do not fit your trip.
ThankYou transfer capability
Citi lists Strata Premier among cards eligible to transfer available, qualifying ThankYou Points to participating airline and hotel loyalty-program accounts.
Available programs are account- and partner-specific. A public partner list is not a promised ratio, award, or point value.
Transfer finality
Citi states that submitted points transfers cannot be cancelled or reversed, and transferred partner currency cannot move back to ThankYou Points.
After transfer, the receiving program’s terms and restrictions apply. A transfer option does not establish award availability.
Transfer limits and timing
Citi currently states a 1,000-point minimum and increments, a 500,000-point maximum per transfer, no transfer fee, and timing that can take up to 14 days.
Citi says names on the ThankYou and partner accounts must match, and not all points are transferable. Some partners can post within 24 hours.
Publicly listed protections
A named protection is the start of a coverage check, not proof that a particular trip or expense qualifies. Before relying on it, read the current cardholder benefit guide for purchase requirements, covered events, exclusions and the claim process.
Publicly listed protections
Citi currently publicly lists Trip Cancellation and Trip Interruption, Trip Delay, Lost or Damaged Luggage, and MasterRental Coverage; its Strata comparison also lists Extended Warranty and Purchase Assurance Plus.
This establishes named public availability only. It does not establish a coverage amount, covered cause, trigger time, exclusion, rental qualification, or claim deadline.
Benefit-guide qualification
Citi directs approved cardmembers to the Guide to Protection Benefits for more information.
Citi says benefits are subject to terms, conditions and limitations, including coverage limits, and are secondary unless otherwise stated. The current cardholder guide controls any coverage review.
Airport lounge-access status
Lounge access is a separate benefit from travel protections. The reviewed public sources do not establish a Strata Premier lounge benefit, so this guide leaves that status unresolved rather than borrowing access rules from a different Citi card.
Airport lounge access
NOT_ESTABLISHED from the reviewed current public Citi materials.
Reviewed Citi materials identify lounge benefits for other Citi products and list lounge passes for Strata Elite, but do not expressly resolve Strata Premier’s lounge-access state. This guide preserves NOT_ESTABLISHED rather than inferring an answer from absence.
A practical research checklist
Start with your existing spending and travel plans, not a total assembled from advertised benefits. Consider which features you could actually use under their conditions, while keeping costs, booking prices and restrictions in view.
If you compare this card with another product, ask the same questions on both sides. Check booking channels, transfer conditions and benefit limitations. This page does not turn that comparison into a winner or a personal recommendation.
